Crittall Windows rebrand: heritage meets bold design

Crittall Windows rebrand by Purplex: heritage cues, modern typography and a bold black and orange palette

Crittall Windows rebrand: returning to heritage with a modern edge

Crittall Windows rebrand. When Crittall Windows approached us in August 2024, the brief was about more than a logo. It was about reconnecting a world-famous brand with its heritage while signalling confidence in its future.

Across its 175-year history, Crittall has evolved visually from an original two-browns palette to a distinctive two-blues scheme, and now, for 2025, into a bold black and orange identity.

Managing Director Russell Ager asked for a subtle evolution. We removed the triangular icon, refined the typography, and took cues from 1930s brochures and advertisements to protect brand equity while moving the identity forward.

Working within our Creative Design & Branding framework, Adam Whittaker developed multiple routes. The chosen mark pairs heritage-inspired letterforms with an orange accent that sits strongly on black across uniforms, vehicle liveries and stationery. The outcome links past and present in a clean, modern way.

We then planned the rollout. Our team produced a social launch video

and an email announcement to architects and specifiers, coordinated with the internal reveal. Staff were fitted with new black polos carrying the orange logo, building pride and consistency from day one.

Reaction matched Russell’s expectations. Customers, industry contacts and media praised how the update respects history yet feels current. Our reveal landed as Crittall expanded powder coating finishes and the Homelight® range was fully certified and registered with BSI.

Where Purplex added value

As Russell put it, this was a “subtle but important evolution” that reinforces Crittall Windows‘ focus on quality, service and innovation. For us at Purplex, it was a privilege to help bring that story to life.
